The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports 14 more people have died from influenza bringing the total number of deaths to 82 for this flu season. Five of those new deaths were in Tulsa County.
For the week of February 4 to February 10, the OSDH reports the new flu deaths were in Cleveland, Lincoln, McClain, McIntosh, Okfuskee, Oklahoma, Pottawatomie, Tulsa and Wagoner counties.
The death in Wagoner County was the first for that county in the current flu season.
The Oklahoma State Health Department reports that during the 2013-14 flu season, the state recorded 72 deaths. The current flu season began on September 28, 2014.
Statewide, the OSDH reports 63 of the 82 flu-related deaths this season were people 65 years of age or older.
