Tulsa Police are involved in a standoff at the Riverchase Apartments, near 81st and Riverside.
Officers say the suspect fired over a dozen shots inside an apartment there.
Tulsa police are negotiating with the shooter and hoping for a peaceful end to the hostage situation.
Tulsa police believe the suspect's child is in the apartment with him. They cannot confirm that, but have reason to believe the child might be in there.
The suspect, a Marine, is talking to police on the phone and negotiators are asking him to surrender and come out peacefully.
It started just after 5:00 Thursday evening, when police say the suspect came to his wife's apartment, violating a protective order.
The couple is going through a divorce and has joint custody of their child.
Police say the suspect shot into the air and at officers at least a dozen times, but officers say they have not shot back.
More than forty police cars were there earlier and they have gone through three shift changes.
The Red Cross is at the complex for the officers and residents who were evacuated because they were in the line of fire.
Last we heard, the suspect is asking to speak to his wife.
