Streets are flooding all over the Tulsa metro area, with cars stalling, stranded and some reportedly floating down the road. A flash flood emergency was issued for parts of Tulsa County.<br/>

Major Flooding Impacts Green Country Streets, Homes

Streets are flooding all over the Tulsa metro area, with cars stalling, stranded and some reportedly floating down the road.

A tornado warning for Adair and Cherokee counties expired at 11:30 p.m. A flash flood emergency was issued for parts of Tulsa County and surrounding areas. All of eastern Oklahoma is under a tornado watch until 4 a.m. and several areas are under flood warning.

As much as 5.5 inches of rain has fallen in parts of our viewing area over the last 24 hours. That is, of course, is on top of two weeks' worth of soaking rains.

It's a water-logged Memorial Day weekend for much of Green Country – a section of the Heartland that has been plagued with drought for the better part of three years.

In Tulsa, water is knee high in places and barricades have gone up and police are physically blocking streets. In Broken Arrow, some homeowners have been seen placing sandbags around doorways. In Owasso, it was reported that vehicles were floating down a street.

The Tulsa Fire Department says it has responded to 55 incidents between 9-11 p.m., most water rescues because of vehicles stranded in water.

Please avoid driving if you do not have to get on the roads. If you must, drive slowly everywhere and approach any water gathered on roadways with caution because the depth can be deceiving. As always, it is best to "Turn Around, Don't Drown."

If your car stalls in water, EMSA urges you to abandon it immediately and move to higher ground.

Additional rainfall is expected for much of Sunday, which will worsen flooding conditions across the area. Several local creeks and rivers are under flood warnings with some rivers are expected to crest at their moderate flood stage level.
