Police Chase From Tulsa To Nowata Ends With Arrest

Tulsa Police chased a stolen truck from Tulsa to Nowata Sunday evening.

The chase ended in Nowata County where they arrested Cody Mathews, 25, of Glenpool.

Officers said the chase began when a Tulsa Police officer spotted the stolen Ford F-350 pickup in the 1000 block of North New Haven and attempted to pull it over. They said the driver took off heading north on Highway 169.

The TPD helicopter, Owasso Police, Collinsville Police, Oologah Police, Nowata Police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol assisted in the chase.

Police said officers put out stop sticks several times but the driver avoided them and kept on heading north.

According to Tulsa Police, Mathews drove northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 169 in pickup for a large portion of the pursuit.

The chase finally ended just south of Nowata when the truck drove off the highway trying to avoid stop sticks and became stuck in the mud.

Police said Mathews resisted arrest and had to be tazed by a Nowata Police officer.
