Tulsa police say there are now 34 homicides so far this year. The most recent happening last night at a Tulsa intersection.

A 16-year-old girl is dead after a drive-by shooting near 46th and MLK Blvd on Friday. Police say several teens in a stolen van pulled up next to the car she was in Friday afternoon and opened fire, shooting at least 15 bullets at the car she was riding in.

The 18-year-old male driver was hit, too, but he survived.

Homicide Detective Dave Walker says police are familiar with the male victim and believe he has been involved in at least three other recent shootings.

Police are now looking for several possible shooters ranging in age from 14-20 years old.

As for the stolen van, it was found abandoned just a few miles away and has been sent to the forensics lab.

Now to an update on a child’s death in June.

Tulsa police are calling the death of 2-year-old Charity Simmons a murder. Charity was found the end of June after a 13-year-old cousin went door to door with the unresponsive toddler asking for help.

A neighbor called 911 and gave the child CPR, but it was too late.

Police say Charity had massive abusive injuries. Officers arrested the mother, Christina Renee Simmons, on a child abuse complaint. They say the child was left alone with the teenager while Simmons was out.

Simmons claims she did not neglect her baby.

Detectives say they do not expect any additional arrests related to this case.

And Tulsa police are asking if you have any information about Friday’s shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
