Police are looking for the person who shot and killed a man at a north Tulsa park Thursday night.

Police answered a call about a shooting at Lacy Park near Peoria and Virgin at about 10:30 p.m. They found the victim lying in the street. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 11 p.m.

Police released the name of the victim late Friday morning. He was identified as James Cooper. It's believed he was 62 years old.

Tulsa Police Sgt. Dave Walker said the victim had just finished playing tennis at the park and had put his tennis bag in the trunk when a man walked up to him and fired at least two shots.

Witnesses said they heard the shots, saw Cooper on the ground and another man running west towards North Midland Avenue.

Sgt. Walker says this is Tulsa's 37th homicide this year. He said investigators do not have a motive.

Anyone with information about the shooting can call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
