Oklahoma State (1-0 overall, 0-0 Big 12) will take on Central Arkansas (0-1 overall, 0-0 Southland Conference) in its home opener this Saturday.
The Cowboys tallied a 24-13 win in their last game against Central Michigan. The win improved OSU to 19-3 in their last 22 nonconference games and marked the team’s seventh win of their last eight season openers.
Mason Rudolph looked good as he spread the ball efficiently, ending the game with 266 yards and a touchdown and completing 22 of his 32 pass attempts.
Saturday will be Rudolph’s first home start and first home game, of any kind, in a while. "I think this is the first time he's played a home game in like eight games because in high school they played on the road in the playoffs and in the state championship,” said Cowboys’ Head Coach Mike Gundy. “I'm sure he is [excited to play at home]. He doesn't really talk about a lot of things like that. He's a little more quiet and reserved. But I know he's gotta be excited to play at home."
Rudolph isn’t the only one, safety Tre Flowers is excited to be back at Boone Pickens as well. “It’s a great environment. It feels like you are at home. Everyone is screaming for you not booing at you,” he said.
This will be the first meeting between Oklahoma State and the Bears. The Cowboys are currently 3-0 all-time against teams from the Southland Conference. An Oklahoma State win would improve the Cowboys to 9-0 against FCS opponents while under Gundy.
Linebacker Seth Jacobs stated his approach to Central Arkansas, saying “We just have to be ready to go out there and be ready to compete and play hard every down."
Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Net.
