Two decades short of his release date, a man who pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of three people in a car wreck is out on bond.
In 2011, Steven Wade Jameson was convicted for a wreck that killed a couple and their son on Christmas Eve, 2009.
His release has to do with his driver's license.
As part of their case, prosecutors argued Jameson's license was suspended; but Jameson's attorneys said, just this year, they learned he didn’t know his license was revoked at the time of the accident.
After four years in prison, Jameson walked out of jail on bond and with an ankle monitor.
"I'm just very thankful for this opportunity. And I want everyone to know that I carry remorse with me every day, but I look forward to the future and what it has in store for me," he said.
Debra Lowery-Jameson expected her son to spend two more decades behind bars, but Thursday, at a hearing for post-conviction relief, Judge James Caputo let him out.
His attorney, Clark Brewster, said, "In 34 years of practicing law I don't think I've witnessed a greater injustice than what happened to this young man."
Jameson was a sophomore at OSU in 2009 when he got into an accident Christmas Eve in Sand Springs and killed Michael Mulanax, his wife, Angela, and son, James.
"In truth, Wade had smoked some marijuana a couple days earlier - very small amount," Brewster said.
Jameson was charged with three counts of manslaughter.
Prosecutors argued Jameson was driving with a suspended license at the time of the accident.
He was convicted and sentenced to 24 years in prison in 2011.

Fast forward to 2015 when Brewster said Jameson received a ticket for minor in possession of alcohol back in 2009 but was never told his license had been revoked.
Considering the state's case was based on Jameson's license being suspended, not revoked, Brewster said his client's sentence cannot stand.
"I'm very happy because, I believe, the scales of justice are tilting in my son's favor," Debra said.
But Angela's mother, Linda Perkins, is furious Jameson is out.
"He was sent to prison and now, six years later almost, they come up with this challenge about the driver's license," she said.
Jameson is not free by any means. From here there will be hearings, and prosecutors will have their chance to get him back behind bars.
The Tulsa County District Attorney told News On 6 it is inappropriate that Jameson was released on bond, and they plan to appeal the decision.
