The Stillwater Police Department held a press conference Saturday morning, following a deadly crash at the OSU Homecoming Parade. Four people have been confirmed dead, eight in critical, and several others have been taken to local hospitals.
Captain Kyle Gibbs with the Stillwater Police Department said it was a single-vehicle accident in which a car traveling southbound down Main Street struck an unmanned police motorcycle and ran into a crowd of people at Hall of Fame St. around 10:31 a.m.
Many emergency personnel were already on scene due to being in the parade but eight medi-flight choppers were flown in and many law enforcement agencies responded.
As of 7 p.m. Saturday, four people were confirmed dead and 44 people were injured.
OU Medical Center and The Children's Hospital received eight patients from the Stillwater crash. The patients are five children and three adults whose conditions range from good to critical, OU Medical Center spokeswoman Vallery Brown said.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Oklahoma State University and the family and friends affected by this tragedy," she said.
A 2-year-old child died Saturday afternoon at The Children's Hospital, a hospital spokesperson said.
“We are heartbroken at this tragedy and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who died and are injured,” said Stillwater Mayor Gina Noble.
The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident has been identified as 25-year-old Adacia Chambers, who was arrested at the scene for a DUI.
Captain Gibbs said at this time they are investigating this as a homicide until further details become available.
OSU President Burns Hargis expressed his profound thanks to the first responders who treated the injured and extended his prayers to the families of all involved.

“The Cowboy family pulls together unfortunately we’ve had to do it before but we’ll do it again… God bless” said Hargis.
President Hargis also said the football game will still go forward and will be used to remember the victims.
The names of the victims have not been released at this time.
A crash investigation team is still on scene and is working to clear the area. The intersection at Main and Hall of Fame will be closed for several hours.
