Group Wants Tulsa Judge Off Bob Bates' Trial

There are new developments in the upcoming trial of former Tulsa County Reserve Deputy Bob Bates.

The community activist group "We The People Oklahoma" is calling on Judge James Caputo to recuse himself in their continued push for transparency - because he was once a reserve deputy.

Caputo told us he was sworn in as a reserve deputy for a short time in the mid '90s but did not actually serve in the position.

The group also wants District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler to ask Caputo to step down from the case.

Bates pleaded not guilty to second-degree manslaughter for the April shooting death of Eric Harris. He goes on trial February 8, 2016.

Judge Caputo told us he asked attorneys on both sides if they wanted him to step aside and both said it was a non-issue.
