Members of a small Okmulgee County town are banding together in the wake of loss. Organizers and friends say murder victim Becky Hamilton was loved by everyone, and that's very apparent at a fundraiser where half the community of Beggs showed up to give their support.
"She was an amazing woman," said Rick Miller, family friend. "She would have helped anyone. She would have given her whole place to them that night if they would have asked her, and this was unnecessary, an absolutely unnecessary tragedy that didn't need to take place."
The community is still shaken by her death.
Investigators say Becky was killed last month when she walked in on an intruder in her home. They say that person shot and killed her before running away.
Investigators say the intruder may have gotten away with a purse and distributed photos of the bag. If you have any information or have seen this purse, call the sheriff's office at 918-756-4311.
So far no one has been arrested.

But people in Beggs don’t want to focus on that.
"It's not only healing for the family, but for the community, as we've talked , something like this doesn't happen in small town America. Beggs is a town of 1,100 people."
But the fundraiser is a way to focus on the positive - come together in a time of need - and help the family of a woman who was always willing to help them.
