The Tulsa-Area Red Cross is helping residents of the Casa Linda Apartments following a fire Sunday morning. The complex is located just east of South Peoria Avenue on 62nd Street.
The fire was sparked by an electrical issue, according to Tulsa Fire Department. Although the fire damaged only a couple of apartments, Public Service of Oklahoma had to shut down power to the entire complex, Tulsa firefighters said.
The fire affected the storage shelter which had the electrical box in it.
PSO originally said they expected to restore power to the complex by 3:30 p.m.Sunday. But spokesperson Tiffani Lyda said that a wiring issue must be fixed by the complex before that action can be taken.
Casa Linda Property Manager David Bryan said it may be two to three days before the wiring issue is resolved. The problem affects 43 units, he said.
About 100 people have been displaced, according to TFD.
The Red Cross has set up a warming station and a shelter, but many of the residents said they plan to stay at their apartments.
