A small airplane made an emergency landing in a field in east Tulsa Monday morning.
Firefighters said the location is near 170th East Avenue at 31st Street South. The pilot, who is an instructor at the Spartan College of Aeronautics said he had just taken off from Jones Riverside Airport in Jenks when the plane developed engine trouble.
Police said the pilot told officers he had considered landing at Harvey Young Airport in east Tulsa but because of all the homes near that airport, he decided to put the plane down in a open field instead.
The plane is owned by Christiansen Aviation and the pilot said he was flying to Kansas.
Firefighters said the pilot who was not injured was only one aboard.
