Prison Employee Arrested, Accused Of Sex Crimes

A prison employee was arrested Monday after being accused of having a sexual relationship with an inmate, a state corrections department spokeswoman confirmed.

Jennifer McElroy, 34, was arrested on complaints of rape and forcible oral sodomy, Cleveland County jail records show.

McElroy, who was an employee at the prison in Lexington, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a prison inmate.

She was arrested after the Department of Corrections' inspector general's office concluded its investigation, corrections department spokeswoman Terri Watkins said.

McElroy has since bonded out of jail.
