Tulsa fire said paramedics took one person from the apartment complex to the hospital, but they found Pittman, dead inside his apartment.
The fire spread to about two-dozen units - half of those without power, the other half damaged by smoke and fire.
Crystal Hayner lives next door to the man who died in the fire and said, “He was a really nice gentleman.”
Hayner received help from the Red Cross. She said she can't believe what happened to her apartment.
"I never thought this would happen to me in a million years. It's just really sad," she said.
Three firefighters were sent home from the hospital after being injured during the fire. Two of them were hurt when a balcony at the Royal Arms Apartments collapsed on them. The third was treated for electrical shock.
Fire investigators will determine where and how the fire started.
The Medical Examiner's Office will determine how Pittman died.
This is the second large fire at the complex. About six years ago three people died after fire investigators say a meth lab exploded.
