Battle Creek Golf Club in Broken Arrow uses GolfBoards in a new fun way to play.
“The GolfBoards are kind of a new unique way to get around the golf course,” explained Director of Golf Dee Roadman. “It adds some excitement."
It's part golf cart, part surfboard and available at Battle Creek.
“We're the only public course in the state of Oklahoma that has the GolfBoards, but I do see these things growing rapidly in the next several years because they are so cool and fun to use,” Roadman stated.
News On 6 sports reporter Harold Kuntz and I put them to the test.
You control the speed by using your thumb on a throttle, and ease off to slow down. To turn, you shift your weight side to side.
There is a learning curve to the GolfBoard but after the fourth hole we played, I felt pretty comfortable.
“We're struggling to keep golfers in the game, and what a better product than have these which adds more fun and excitement,” said Roadman. “You're basically playing golf and surfing as you're going around the golf course which makes a fun experience and attracts a lot more people to come out to the golf course."
Anyone 13 or older can use a GolfBoard during their round, for $10.00 more than the regular fee.
There is one disclaimer; it won't make you a better golfer.
