Warm And Muggy Pattern Remains

The pattern has not changed and the chances for storms will remain in the forecast for the next several days.  Storms are still cranking across part of eastern OK early this morning as this discussion is posted.   After this complex clears the area, the chances for storms this afternoon and evening will be isolated in nature, but severe storms will still be possible.   Some data support another small complex of storms moving across part of the area late tonight into early Thursday morning, but this chance will remain low.

The main upper level system of interest will be nearing the state Thursday and Friday with enhanced chances for severe storms including all modes of severe weather.   Temperatures today will again be in the upper 60s and lower 70s this morning and into the mid or upper 80s this afternoon.   Temperature heat index values may extend from 93 to 97 this afternoon.

The forecast today appears to be warm and muggy with partly cloudy to mostly sunny sky by the afternoon.   Temperatures should climb into the mid-80s with a few spots into the upper 80s.   There is no major focusing mechanism at this point for a large number of storms this afternoon, but we’ll need to see if any residual outflows will remain near northeastern OK due to the early morning activity.   Regardless, we’re keeping a mention again today for some storm activity, but this chance will remain relatively low.

Only a few runs of the ARW bring another MCS into the area later tonight.

Thursday and Friday the main upper level trough, currently located across the southwestern U.S. will eject east and northeast spreading significant dynamic energy into the atmosphere.   The severe weather parameters may be increasing Thursday into Friday with all modes of severe weather a possibility across central and parts of eastern OK.   This may also extend southward into part of northern Texas.   Friday night into Saturday morning, the main trough will be exiting the influence of the state, and our storm chances will remain in the isolated category for most of the weekend along with warm and muggy conditions.   Monday, Memorial Day, another disturbance may be nearing the state with a slight increase in thunderstorm activity, some of which may be severe.   Please remain aware of your weather surroundings for the next few days.
