The body of a 45-year-old McAlester man was recovered from Lake Eufaula on Sunday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says.

A report says Michael Waldo and an 8-year-old girl were on a jet ski when it overturned and ejected them on Saturday night.

Both were able to stay afloat, with Waldo helping the girl to stay above water. A Good Samaritan on another jet ski was able to rescue the girl, OHP says.

Waldo then went under water and never resurfaced, witnesses said.

His body was recovered on Sunday about 7 p.m. with Sonar equipment. Divers found him in approximately 30 feet of water near Ladybird Landing Campground.

Neither Waldo nor the girl were wearing a personal floatation device, the report says.
