Built in 1951, the Admiral Twin Drive-In has hosted many families, first dates and even served as a prominent backdrop for the 1983 movie 'The Outsiders' starring Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze and Matt Dillon.
"That is still our claim to fame,” said drive-in owner Blake Smith. “People still come out and still talk about The Outsiders"
But when a fire destroyed the screens in 2010, Smith didn't know if the drive-in's legacy would continue.
"It took me about 20 minutes to drive over here, and when I got here it was probably about half way down,” explained Smith. “I knew it was over at that point."
But just as soon as it had come down, the community wanted it back up.
With donations and a loan from the bank, Smith renovated the outdoor theatre and brought it back to life.
“Your kids come out and experience something you probably experienced when you were younger, and the older generations they love to share those memories with the younger generations,” said moviegoer Jessica Leriche.
So if you want to treat the family to a one-of-kind experience head to the Admiral Twin Drive-In - and don't forget to enjoy the popcorn.
"You can't duplicate our popcorn at the house," joked Smith.
Tickets are $7.00 for anyone 12 and up and just $3.00 for kids ages three to 11.
And every ticket gets you in the gate for a double feature that evening.
