Community leaders held a news conference to address incidents of violence in the Tulsa community after the bodies of a man and woman were found in a Tulsa park Tuesday morning. Meshawna Jones and Markey Goff were found shot to death in the front seat of a SUV.
Jones' two sons, ages 5 and 1, were uninjured. Police say they were alone with the bodies of their mother and her friend for hours before a person walking by found the older boy on the playground.
At 10 a.m. Wednesday, State Senator Kevin Matthews and City Councilor Jack Henderson spoke about the need to join forces to stop the violence.

"We cannot stand by and do nothing," Matthews said in a news release. "It is particularly disturbing that this happened at a park utilized by the neighborhood association and youth sports groups."
Homicide Sergeant David Walker said Wednesday morning that they did not yet have any updates in the investigation. Police do have evidence to work with, however, he said the day of the murders:
"I would think, if I were the person who did this, I would be very concerned. This isn't a perfect crime. Here we go, the game is on," Walker said.
Matthews and Henderson are members of the 100 Black Men mentoring group, the release states.
