Semi Fire Slows Traffic On Highway 412 Near Inola

Traffic was brought to a standstill Tuesday afternoon after a semi truck caught fire.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 412 between Inola and Chouteau were shut down as fire crews worked to extinguish the flames.

Troopers tell News On 6 the fire likely started due to a brake issue.

The driver of the semi was able to disconnect the cab from the trailer and get away from the flames.

Traffic was backed up for miles as crews worked the scene.

One lane was opened around 5:30 p.m. and cars were allowed through one at a time.
