The Tulsa football team dropped to 1-1 after losing 48-3 to the Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium.
After both teams exchanged field goals, both teams entered the second quarter with three points. But OSU soon took a 6-3 lead with another kick.
The close score shocked many, but it didn’t last long. The Buckeyes soon picked up their momentum and set the tone of the game with a pick six by Malik Hooker, also known as Malik The Freak, and another from Marshon Lattimore, his second interception of the day, to give the Ohio State a 20-3 lead entering halftime.
After a 70-minute intermission due to weather, the game resumed and Ohio State State turned it up a notch and started running up the score.
A touchdown run from J.T. Barrett lifted the Buckeyes to a 27-3 advantage. The OSU defense then forced a three and out before scoring again to give Tulsa a 34-3 deficit with an end zone appearance from Mike Weber, the first of his college career.
Entering the fourth quarter, Tulsa was rattled, couldn’t handle the Buckeyes’ offense nor make plays against their defense.
Ohio State later took a 41-3 lead with a five-yard run by Barrett to complete a 28-yard scoring drive for the Buckeyes with 11:15 remaining in the final quarter.
OSU ended the game, improving to 2-0 with a 48-3 victory over the Golden Hurricane.
