Haskell's football field became a place for prayer, fellowship and encouragement.
Football teams from across Muskogee and Wagoner counties came to show their support for Thomas, who collapsed on the sidelines after taking a hit against Henryetta.
Through song and fellowship, the team is rallying for Thomas' recovery, and the family is thankful.
"I'm a proud father, a very proud father. I'm blessed," Kermit Thomas said.
He said Tuesday evening and Wednesday were his son’s best days in recovery, so far.
"It's amazing, very wonderful. I mean, it's indescribable that the community, the town, the surrounding towns, all came here,” he said. “We all just need to stay united throughout this. My son is going to be okay, he's going to be fine. If everybody sticks like we are, the world will be a better place."
Thomas' father has a simple message to the Haskell family, "I love you. That's the message to the community. I love you. That's more than a mouthful."
An online fundraising site is set up to help raise money for Thomas' recovery.
