A Bartlesville mother is in shock after her missing 15-year-old son was found dead.
The body of Drake Yancey was found not too far from the high school early Tuesday morning by Bartlesville police.
We spoke with the family who said they're thankful for the search efforts by the community.
Yancey’s mother, Khrislyn Robinett said, "Everyone from Sedan to Timbuktu, they all came to help me search for my son, and I can't thank them enough."
Sitting inside the Bartlesville Police Department, Drake Yancey's family was reeling from the news.
The 15 year old was found dead early Tuesday morning in a wooded area just northeast of Bartlesville high school.
Robinett said, “I will miss him. I just hope he knows that, wherever he is, that I do love him and that I tried my best."
Yancey grew up in Bartlesville with his grandmother, who called police when he never came home from school Friday.
Over the weekend, communities from southeastern Kansas all the way to Bartlesville came together to search for high school sophomore.
"They just poured in,” Robinett said. “I called a friend and all these people showed up."
She said she's overwhelmed by the amount of support her family has received since her son's disappearance.
Strangers, friends, and entire communities spent days searching for the teen and posting alerts to social media.
She said while it's not the answer they wanted, they can now bring him home.
Bartlesville police said out of respect for the family, they will not be releasing the manner of Drake Yancey's death, but said they don’t suspect foul play.
