Police say a man shot at several officers through his back windshield while involved in a police chase that went through two Green County cities.

It all started near 116th Street North, where an Owasso police officer noticed someone going 94 miles an hour in a 35 mile an hour zone.

But police say speed isn't the only reason they wanted the driver to stop; the Rogers County Sheriff's Office said while arresting 26-year-old Kyle Linscomb, he told officers he tried to kill them.

"Absolutely by the grace of God nobody was killed," said Rogers County Sheriff Scott Walton.

Walton said Linscomb shot at his deputies along with Owasso and Claremore officers. And, he said the danger escalated when Linscomb led the chase from Owasso to Claremore through Keetonville Hill.

"Chasin’ somebody that's shooting at you - 100 miles per hour down a two-lane road that's curvy and hilly and down Keetonville Hill - it's a treacherous road on a good day at safe speed," the sheriff said.

Walton said as the chase got into Claremore a deputy used stop sticks to slow Linscomb down but he got out of his truck and ran into the woods. A Tulsa police helicopter and Owasso police K9s worked to find him, and someone eventually spotted him at Walgreens.

Deputies suspect Linscomb was under the influence of drugs, possibly PCP.

Walton said, "This deal, it's spelled bad all different ways. But we've got a situation where, thankfully, the thug's in jail and no good guys were hurt."

Linscomb is in the Rogers County Jail on several complaints including assault with a firearm.
