Police are still investigating after a homeowner shot a man trying to break into his house early Wednesday near 91st and Memorial.

Officers say at about 1:15 a.m.,  man jumped over the homeowner's fence and tried to break into a bedroom door, which led to the home's backyard.

Police say the homeowner grabbed his girlfriend's pistol and started shooting at the intruder through the door.

They said 32-year-old Perry Wallace was hit several times.  EMSA took him to the hospital with what police said were non-life threatening injuries.

The homeowner's four children, ages four through 12 and his girlfriend were in the home at the time.

Police say they believe it was a matter of self-defense and that Wallace made a bad decision.

"If you're going to try to get into someone's house that's not your own, you're rolling the dice, especially here in Oklahoma. A lot of people exercise their Second Amendment, which is fantastic," said Sgt. Shane Tuell.
