A Collinsville teenager died after she crashed her car into a creek in Washington County Thursday morning, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said.
Investigators said they found 18-year-old Nikki Winton's car partially submerged in the creek.
The crash happened in Washington county but the sheriff office handed the case over to the Oklahoma highway patrol because it happened on a road in OHP's jurisdiction.
Troopers said Winton, of Collinsville, was heading west at a high rate of speed on 390 Road, also known as Vera Road, when her 1995 Honda Civic ran off the left side of the road, struck a tree and came to rest in a creek in about four feet of water.
At some point she took a curve too fast and went off the road, hit a tree and crashed into the creek.
Someone driving by spotted her car and called for help.
Troopers said Winton died at the scene from massive injuries. The troopers' report said Winton was not wearing a seatbelt.
The OHP, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Owens Fire Department and Collinsville EMS responded to the scene.
Friends of Winton have been posting about her on social media, and it appears she was set to graduate from high school this year.
