Broken Arrow State Senator Nathan Dahm says he's running for Jim Bridenstine's U.S. House seat in 2018.
The Republican made the announcement Friday morning at the Rose District Pavilion.
After the rally, News On 6 asked him if the state budget will get done. Dahm says state lawmakers are working on it and that it will be on the governor's desk in time.
News On 6 also asked Senator Dahm if he had talked to Bridenstine.
"He was one of the first people I notified. I just felt as a gentleman and as a constituent I should notify him first and foremost that I was going to be throwing my hat in the ring and jumping into this race," said Nathan Dahm.
Bridenstine is not running for re-election in 2018, and Dahm said Bridenstine said he won't endorse any candidates.
Dahm's Senate District 33 includes parts of Broken Arrow, Tulsa and southern Tulsa County.
