Rescue Efforts Continue As Much Of Houston Remains Underwater

The rescue efforts are heartwarming when you see people volunteering to help but also heartbreaking when you know most people are losing everything.

With more rain falling, in many places the water is rising at a dangerous pace.   

With lifesaving urgency, volunteers are launching boats anywhere they can get them into the water.

They're rescuing hundreds of people including Hector Garcia and his family.

"My wife, she don't know how to swim,” said Garcia. “My kids, they don't know how to swim. So, I wouldn't be able to do it without this fantastic crew; everybody's helping.”

With the wind and unpredictable currents, volunteers are putting their own lives at risk to help.

Boat by boat, they're bringing people to safety, often carrying children in their arms.

John Cservack moved to a garage loft Sunday night but woke up Tuesday to four feet of water in his home.

"We are in a bad way but so are hundreds of thousands of other people,” he said.

With thousands still needing help, volunteers will keep going out in the ever changing conditions, dodging submerged cars and other things hidden underneath the water to get to those in need.

"I don't care so much about the material things because my family is okay,” said Garcia.
