We’ve enjoyed plenty of below normal temperatures recently, but summer isn’t done with us yet! Get ready for the heat to crank up as we continue our long Labor Day weekend.
Outside of the possibility of some brief morning fog, there will be plenty of sunshine to go around for our Sunday. Temperatures will climb quickly with that ample sunshine as highs push up into the low 90s this afternoon with heat index values in the mid 90s. There will be very little wind to cool us off, so it’ll be a great day to jump in the pool or the lake!
Labor Day Monday continues to look even hotter across Green Country. An increasing south-southwest breeze on Monday looks to push our highs into the mid 90s, with heat index values near the 100 degree mark. The good news: We will once again have plenty of sunshine and smooth sailing for the Great Raft Race down the Arkansas River. Just make sure you stay hydrated!
We’re still in line for a big-time weather pattern change after Labor Day as a strong cold front arrives Tuesday morning. Scattered showers and storms will accompany this front on Tuesday, though the severe weather threat looks very low. Temperatures will likely be 15 to 20 degrees cooler on Tuesday as temperatures hold mainly in the 70s behind that front.
Much drier air will rush in behind the front by Tuesday night, allowing temperatures to plummet nicely by Wednesday morning. We should experience the coolest air we’ve had since May as lows dip into the lower 50s for Wednesday and Thursday morning, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some areas north of Tulsa dipped into the upper 40s! Hello, fall!
Temperatures will start to slowly warm by Thursday and Friday, but in general below normal temperatures should stick around through the end of the week with lows in the 50s and highs in the lower 80s through next Friday.
I hope you have a fantastic rest of your Labor Day weekend! Have fun but please be safe as well!
