Police arrested a man on multiple complaints after a 9-month-old child was severely injured at a Tulsa motel late Monday, September 11. Police said the boy is brain dead.
He is identified as Ezekiel Wayne Hadithy, 38, of Tulsa.
Officers were called to the Quality Inn near Highway 412 and Gilcrease Museum Road just before 11:25 p.m. and found the child in cardiac arrest and not breathing. Police say the infant boy was taken to the hospital after they were told the baby had fallen off a bed at the motel.
According to an arrest report, Ezekiel Hadithy initially told investigators he left the baby on a bed and went to wash clothing in the laundry room then returned to the room to find the child face down on the floor. Hadithy, who is identified as the mom's boyfriend, later said he had dropped the child on the laundry room floor, then returned to his room with the boy before calling 911.
A physician told police the trauma the child suffered was consistent with being ejected from a car during a crash or falling from a second or third story window onto concrete, the arresting officer said.
Hadithy was booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints including child abuse by injury and child neglect.
