Police say a 16-year-old boy went on a crime spree that included the murder of a Broken Arrow teacher who died fighting to protect his family and the sexual assault of an 81-year-old woman.
Officers took Deonte Green into custody near 71st and Memorial after 12 hours of intense police work.
Green is the 16-year-old boy who police say carried out four armed robberies, a sexual assault and a murder - in one day. He was an off and on student in Union Public Schools.
"He was a menace, basically, wherever he went," said Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker, Tulsa Police.
Walker said Green is now the suspect in a wave of home invasions, robberies and car thefts within a mile of the murder.
School teacher Shane Anderson, 44, was killed in front of his wife and two daughters.
"He comes out of his bedroom and sees a stranger with a gun, and he does not hesitate," Walker said. "He gets in a struggle with Green, and Green shoots. He continues to struggle with Green until he collapsed."

Anderson taught geography at Broken Arrow's Oneta Ridge Middle School where co-workers said his students are grieving.
"They remember his enthusiasm, his passion," said Principal Mickey Replogle. "They're already missing that."
After Anderson's murder, police searched the neighborhood and found an elderly couple who said Green broke into their house an hour earlier.
Police say he fired shots in the house to make the point that he'd kill them if they called police.
"He forced the elderly woman back to a bedroom where he sexually assaulted her, then forced the couple at gunpoint to drive him to an ATM to withdraw money," said Corporal Darrin Ehrenrich, Tulsa Police Sex Crimes Unit.
Police say Green is on video at Arvest Bank, forcing the couple to use their ATM card before they returned to the house and Green went around the corner to where the murder happened.
"It's a heinous crime spree, to say the least," Ehrenrich said.
Police called in extra officers to work the crime, and they were ready to respond when a call came in from the parking lot of Incredible Pizza where they say Green robbed a couple in the parking lot.
