Grab the umbrellas and get ready for a Saturday soaker!  Widespread rain will spread across Green Country today.

The early to mid-morning hours of our Saturday are starting off fairly dry across most of eastern Oklahoma, but don’t let that fool you!  Widespread rain will gradually overtake Green Country by the late morning hours, with rain likely areawide throughout the afternoon.

Some locally heavy downpours are possible along with some thunder and lightning, so if you are going to try to brave any outdoor activities, be aware!  But thankfully, no severe weather is expected today.  Expect yet another unseasonably cool day with afternoon highs holding in the 50s under these rainy conditions.  Some areas east of Tulsa could briefly reach the low 60s before the rain rolls in and cools you off for the afternoon.

Off-and-on showers and storms will linger into the nighttime hours, with another flare-up of rain again early Sunday morning as the upper-level low responsible for this rainy weekend moves across the state.  By the time it’s all said and done, many of us should see at least a half-inch to an inch of rainfall, with higher amounts over 2 inches most likely across southeast Oklahoma.

Temperatures will remain below normal on Sunday even as the rain eventually ends.  We should recover to the low 60s Sunday afternoon, but mostly cloudy skies and a strong north wind will keep it feeling brisk.

Warmer weather will return to start next week!  We’ll see some upper 60s on Monday and 70s on Tuesday before another cold front arrives, potentially triggering a few more scattered showers Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.  Mild weather will be the general rule next week, but it will likely be several days before we see any 80s return to Green Country!
