OHP Trooper, Turnpike Workers Rescue Woman & Infant From Submerged Car

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper rescued a woman and child from a car that was submerged in water Monday, September 17, according to the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority.

Trooper Matt White was sent to an area near Wellston on a call of a submerged vehicle and found the car in mid-chest level water, a news release states. Two maintenance workers, Patrick Goggin and Randy Pierce, helped White rescue the woman and baby who were inside.

Oklahoma Turnpike Authority Executive Director Tim Gatz praised the men for their actions.

"Thanks to these men, the woman and infant were successfully removed from the vehicle and transported to Edmond Integris hospital for treatment," he said.

The news release did not name the woman or say how she ended up in water but said OHP is investigating the wreck.
