Flash Flood Watch Issued In Advance Of Weekend Storms

<p>The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for several counties in eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas for Friday afternoon through Sunday morning.</p>

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for several counties in eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. It will be in effect from Friday afternoon through Sunday morning with this weekend's expected storm system. 

Counties include Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Delaware, Okmulgee, Wagoner, Cherokee, Adair, Muskogee, Pittsburg, Haskell, Latimer, and LeFlore.

Rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches are possible in some areas. Periods of brief, heavy of rain and thunderstorms are expected to cause flash flooding concerns. 

A cold front, currently located to our northwest, will drop across northwestern Oklahoma later Thursday night and enter our region Friday morning with some rain and storms nearing the area. The front is expected to pass the metro by midday, moving across eastern Oklahoma by that afternoon and evening.

No severe weather is expected across our immediate areas of concern.  

Temperatures Friday will top out in the upper 70s north and a few lower 80s south with northeast winds developing around 10 to 20 mph.  

By afternoon, it’s possible to see readings in the 60s with rain nearby. Friday night football games may be wet near and south of the Tulsa metro with game temperatures in the 60s.

On Saturday, rain with some embedded thunder will remain likely during the early morning hours before gradually decreasing north while continuing south.  Temperatures will stay in the 60s for most of the day but may reach the lower 70s by afternoon with clouds and north winds.
