High school football games across the state were moved to Thursday due to the threat of weather on Friday.
Including a big one in class 6A-1 as Broken Arrow hosted Jenks. Which team would get handed its first loss of the season?
This time last year, it was the other two big-time 6a-1 teams in the marquee matchup, this year, Jenks and Broken Arrow are out to prove they're they are the top teams in the state.
It felt like Friday night as all of Broken Arrow was rocking but Jenks came out first on play action as Ian Corwin found a wide open Dreyson Watters for the touchdown Trojans up early, 7-0.
The Tigers struck back through the air as Tate Robards puts up a perfect ball to Matt Kaiser for the 22-yard strike, 7-7.
Then, second quarter Quentevin Cherry with the Cherry Bomb!! Plus gnarly stiff arm nets another touchdown for BA. Broken Arrow scored 21 unanswered to lead by 14 at the half.
But in the second half, Jenks marches all the way down and it was Noah Hernandez who makes in to score and that made it a one-score game at 21-13.
Jenks and Broken Arrow would trade interceptions. Broken Arrow's Noah Cortes seals the deal with his second rushing touchdown of the night.
Tigers win, 28-13.
"The kids have done everything. They've done it. I'm proud to be a part of it. All I do is line them up, tell them to play fast and play hard, and they've done that. We overcame every one and made big plays of defense, made a couple of plays of special teams, and made just enough plays on offense to win the football game," said Broken Arrow Head Coach David Alexander.
Broken Arrow is now 4-0 for the first time in history and proving themselves as the class of 6a
