The threat of bad weather moved several games to Thursday night but Union and Owasso chose to keep their 6A-1 District 2 opener on Friday.

The over-arching storyline of this game is that it's the rematch of last year's State Championship game which Owasso won. But both teams are at 1-2 as they enter this district opener.

The storyline is weather playing a factor and both looking to move their team in the right direction, so a very important game for both.

Owasso is coming off two losses by more than double digits to Fayetteville and Broken Arrow which is a big difference for the defense. Last season they gave up only 16 points per game.

Through the first 3 games, they've given up an average of 44 points. Coach Bill Blankenship said they've had a lot to correct the past 2 weeks.

Union is also 1-2. A lot of players are looking to get back at Owasso after losing in the championship last year but they've had struggles offensively as well.

10 points in the 2 losses to Broken Arrow and Jenks. Redskins still have plenty of talent with good expertise but lots to work on as they've had a bye week as well to prepare for Owasso.

News On 6 asked both coaches about the rain factor and both of them essentially said, ‘what are we going to do, stop it? We've prepared for it all week.
