A cold front moving into Green Country will bring a big cool-down – for some – and scattered storms for many of us to start the weekend.

That cold front will make steady progress across Green Country through the morning hours, likely surging into Tulsa by late morning with temperatures briefly falling for the lunchtime and midday hours. The front will then slow down and eventually stall out somewhere south of Tulsa later in the afternoon and evening hours.

Interactive Radar

Once again, with that front splitting Green Country in half we’ll have a big range of temperatures from northwest to southeast today. We’ll likely see afternoon temperatures in the cool 60s northwest of Tulsa, lower 70s here in the Tulsa metro, and toasty 80s if you’re further southeast of Tulsa.

In addition to a wide range of temperatures, pockets of scattered storms are expected throughout the day as well. A few storms later this afternoon and evening could briefly become strong to marginally severe with hail and strong winds possible. Stay weather aware!

Rain chances look to continue overnight into Sunday morning with some locally heavy rain possible, particularly in areas west and northwest of Tulsa. Saturday’s cold front will lift back to the north as a warm front on Sunday, allowing us to climb back into the upper 70s to low 80s Sunday afternoon with south winds.

If you don’t happen to pick up a shower or storm over the weekend, there are still more rain chances to come! Storms will diminish a bit in Green Country on Monday as heavier rains shift to the west of our viewing area. However, we do expect a strong squall line of storms to take shape on Tuesday, eventually marching east across Green Country by Tuesday night with a threat of some damaging winds and localized flooding.

Rain chances look to decrease on Wednesday as drier and cooler air moves in. And fall weather fans, rejoice! Temperatures look to trend back towards more typical fall-like values by late in the week as our highs dip back into the 60s by next Thursday and Friday.
