Police say a man is recovering in the hospital after walking in front of a moving freight train in Claremore late Sunday.

Police say a man is recovering in the hospital after walking in front of a moving freight train in Claremore late Sunday.

Lt. Doug Woodward says they still don't know if the man did this on purpose or not. He says the man walked in front of the southbound train that was traveling about 20 miles per hour at the time of impact.

Adding, the unidentified man was alert when they arrived on scene, but he suffered severe trauma and was immediately taken to the hospital.

The BNSF train went into emergency shutdown mode and was inspected before it could leave the area.
