Firefighters say one person has died in a fire at a Tulsa apartment complex early Monday. Some neighbors are now looking for new homes after the fire destroyed their apartments.

At one point, the flames were so high that you could see them from miles away. Firefighters said several units at the Park at Forest Oaks new 71st and Lewis were filled with flames when they got to the scene.

One man collapsed outside, and firefighters said he died at the scene. Crews got the fire under control, but smoke was billowing from the building for a few hours.

Investigators said they've determined the fire was accidental but they're still working to learn more about what happened. Jesse Segura said he's thankful for a neighbor who knocked on his door to make sure he and his girlfriend got out.

"Thank God that they were there and that she was up doing her homework and that she was able to get everyone aware of it as soon as possible," said Segura.

Firefighters said the Red Cross is now helping the displaced neighbors find a place to stay.
