Tulsa Police have identified a woman that was found dead in a pond near 21st and Mingo.
Tulsa Police said they found Angela Deere face-down in the pond and believe it to be an accident, rather than crime-related.
Osage Sky News 6 HD flew over the scene near the Shoreline apartments minutes after Tulsa Police were called for a body floating in the pond around 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
"Fire was able to tell that she had been deceased for some time and so we just went through the process of trying to determine what happened," said Sgt. Jason Muse with Tulsa Police.
Police said they believe Deere was out on the back patio at one of the apartments drinking beer before she ended up in the water.
"Not sure at what point it went from a nice peaceful evening of just relaxing, to something tragic happening whether it was accidental or whether it was some kind of crime," said Sgt. Muse.
Police said the water also made investigation and the recovery of the body a little more difficult.
"When you are in the water it kind of makes things a little more difficult for not only evidence preservation but victim extraction and processing of the victim at the scene one the victim is pulled out of the water," said Sgt. Muse.
Neighbor Mike Rutledge lives near where the body was found. He says he was surprised when police showed up.
"I was pretty surprised normally nothing happens in this lake you very seldom even see any kind of boaters or rafters or anything," said Rutledge.
Another neighbor said she's always had concerns about safety around the pond.
"There is no barriers, no safety provisions for children or adults all along the whole lake," said neighbor Cindy Rutledge.
And as Police continue to investigate neighbors said this is a tragic situation, "That could've been somebody's mom somebody's grandma we don't know," said Cindy Rutledge.
