UPDATE: The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has identified the body found as 20-year-old Shawn Welch from Tulsa. Troopers are still investigating his death.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating after a body was found at Keystone Lake in Osage County Friday afternoon.
Officials said someone saw the body north of the main boat ramp and called 911 around noon Friday. As the Medical Examiner works to figure out the cause of death, investigators hope the public can help identify the victim.
Trooper Ricky Humdy said the victim is white, between 5'6" and 5'8", and around 160 to 180 pounds. Humdy also said the man had a Mohawk-like hairstyle, several distinctive tattoos and was missing a front tooth.
Troopers said there were no signs of trauma to the body, so they're investigating this as a drowning. However, no one reported a missing person in the area.
OHP said they are planning to put a vessel in the water to search for an abandoned boat or vehicle the man might have been riding.
"What I'm going to do is look around and see if I can find maybe a boat, maybe he got thrown out of a boat or something or find a campsite or something that's abandoned, so I'm going to search the area and see if I can find something like that," OHP Trooper Ricky Humdy said. "If not, we'll just have to wait and see if somebody comes up with him missing."
