Oklahoma Storm makes Gottlieb top pick in USBL draft
(Enid-AP) -- Enid's Oklahoma Storm made Oklahoma State point guard Doug Gottlieb the Number One pick at the 15th annual draft of the United States Basketball League Tuesday.
The U-S-B-L expansion team followed with Tulsa's Eric Coley in the second round. Northwestern Oklahoma's Mario Woodson was picked up in the fifth round, with Jay Mauck of Oklahoma Christian drafted by the Storm in the eighth round.
Gottlieb ended his senior season with the Cowboys after last month's loss to Florida in the N-C-A-A tournament. This season he averaged 8-point-5 assists a game and was second in the nation with 254 assists.
The Storm begins veteran workouts on Thursday and opens the season April 21st and 22nd against the Gulf Cost SunDogs and the Florida Sea Dragons.
