OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Convicted killer Brenda Andrew formally became the only woman on Oklahoma death row Wednesday.
Judge Susan Bragg followed a jury's recommendation and sentenced Andrew to death for first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Andrew will be transferred from the Oklahoma County jail to the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center in McLoud.
Andrew was convicted in the November 2001 shooting death of her estranged husband, Rob Andrew.
Rob Andrew was killed in the garage of the Andrew home after arriving to pick up the couple's two children for Thanksgiving.
Prosecutors say Brenda Andrew and her lover, James Pavatt, killed Rob Andrew for his $800,000 life insurance policy. Pavatt was convicted of murder in the case in 2003 and also sentenced to death.
