The board of directors at American Airlines and US Airways were reportedly meeting individually Wednesday to consider a merger of the two airlines.
The two companies are reportedly trying to finish a deal before Friday which would create the world's largest airline.
A source in Tulsa says a meeting is scheduled Thursday at American Airlines' maintenance base in Tulsa, and US Airways representatives are supposed to be in attendance for some sort of announcement.
The source could not tell us what the announcement might be, but says there is definitely a meeting planned.
We are told a hangar at Tulsa International Airport was cleaned out Wednesday and chairs were set up.

On Monday, the Associated Press reported a source close to the matter was saying the AMR board wants to meet in person, and that the US Airways board would only meet after the AMR board approves a deal.
