4 Flu Deaths In A Week Bring Total Number Of Deaths In OK To 30

Numbers released by the Oklahoma State Department of Health show four more people have died from the flu in the state in the past week, bringing the total number of flu deaths, since September 30, 2012, to 30.

One of the latest deaths was reported in Tulsa County.

The health department report released Thursday shows there have been total of 987 hospitalizations in Oklahoma since the start of the flu season.

The season runs through May.

Tulsa County has had seven deaths due to flu, while Oklahoma as had five and Comanche counties has had four. Washington and Pittsburg counties each have two flu-related deaths. Single deaths are reported in Blaine, Cherokee, Cleveland, Creek, Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Nowata, Rogers and Stephens counties.

Tulsa County leads the state in flu-related hospitalizations (279) and flu-related deaths (7). Oklahoma County is second with 147 hospitalizations and three deaths.
