Editor's note: This story has been corrected to state the man was killed when his pickup crashed into and over the boulder barrier at the Tulsa quarry.
A man is dead after a wreck at a North Tulsa quarry. Tulsa Police say a pickup driver headed north on 129th East Avenue failed to stop at the stop sign at 46th Street North. He was killed when his truck cleared the barrier rocks at the quarry entrance and crashed.
Corporal J.D. Curran said speed most likely played a part in the wreck.
Officers were called to the scene just before 7 a.m. and believe the wreck had taken place overnight.
Police have not released the victim's name but say he was a white male about 55 years old. They say they are still looking for next of kin.
The APAC Quarry has been the site of several fatality wrecks over the years. Warning signs are posted and boulders have been set at the end of 129th East Avenue just before the quarry drop off.
