Men's Basketball: TU-Missouri State Preview

The TU men's basketball team is set to host Missouri State in the Reynolds Center at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night.

The TU men's basketball team is set to host Missouri State in the Reynolds Center at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night. TU is currently 5-5 on the season, while Missouri State is 5-4. The Golden Hurricane lost its last game to Oklahoma, (87-68). Shaquille Harrison led TU with 21 points and five steals. Rashad Ray had 11 points; James Woodard added nine points, three assists, and two steals.

Speaking of scoring, Woodard surpassed 1,000 career points earlier this month in the team's game against Creighton. Woodard is the 36th player in Tulsa history to hit 1,000 points. Woodard has scored 1,050 points in 76 games. He has produced double-digit figures in 38 of his last 44 games. He also scored double figures in seven games of the current season. During his career at TU, he scored in double numbers for 28 consecutive games, which tied for the 9th longest streak in the school's history. During his freshman and sophomore year he led the program in scoring and rebounding, becoming the first player in TU history to lead the program in both categories for two consecutive years.

The game Wednesday night will be the 40th time the Golden Hurricane and the Bears have met. MSU leads the series, 21-18. In the last six meetings, the home team has claimed the victory.

2013: Missouri State won, 96-93.

2012: Tulsa won, 61-42.

2011: Missouri State won in overtime, 69-64.

2010: Tulsa won, 62-50.

2009: Missouri State won, 83-75.

2008: Tulsa won, 70-67.

The Golden Hurricane has won 13-17 meetings by an average of 10.5 points. TU is 12-5 overall against the Bears at home.
