Broken Arrow Crews Working To Clear City Streets

The City of Broken Arrow says it's applied 315 tons of sand and 90 tons of salt and plans to make a second run at streets covered by ice and snow.

Spokesperson Krista Flasch said workers have successfully cleared snow from many arterial streets and will continue plowing operations.

"As the layer of ice that formed underneath the snow melts, crews will go back and plow away the slush," she said in a news release.

City employees are working 12-hour shifts and will do so around the clock as needed.

Flasch said BA has more than 439 lane miles they maintain for snow routes. They give first priority to major roadways though neighborhood streets with a grade of more than 10 percent will also be plowed.

"It is important to note that the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) maintains the Broken Arrow Expressway, Old Highway 51 and the Creek Turnpike," she said.
