Neighbors ran for cover when gunshots rang out at an East Tulsa apartment complex early Thursday.

Police said a wheelchair-bound man who lives in one of the apartments, shot and killed two of the three men who kicked in his door.

A third man, Tymalk Love, has been named a person of interest. They still are looking for him Thursday night.

Police said three men were in the complex visiting other people when they got into an argument with two men sitting in front of the apartment.

Police said the two men wanted no part of it, so they went inside and locked the door, but minutes later, the three men kicked in the door.

Repairing the damage to the apartment is going to take some work. Not only was the front door kicked in but one of the bedroom doors was as well.

This sheetrock will need to be repaired where it looks like someone was slammed into it. There are bullet holes in the other bedroom door, as well as the bedroom wall, and the window is broken because police said the third suspect dove through it to escape.

"All of a sudden, we heard the bullets go off,” manager Donna Mobley said. “It sounded like ‘pop, pop, pop, pop, pow.' We were scared and crawled to the back and waited."

Police said when the dust settled, Kejuan Shields and Demario Harris were dead.

Shields was released from prison last summer after serving time for gun crimes and Harris has been in prison for marijuana and stolen cars.

Police said the argument seems to have started over something minor.

"The best we can tell from the interviews we've done so far, it's just a silly, ‘why you looking at me that way for?'" TPD Sgt. Dave Walker said.

The man in the wheelchair who fired the shots, Joshua Penn, is a paraplegic because he had been shot seven times in 2011 when he lived in Boynton.

His mother lives with him and had just left minutes before the shooting.

"I wasn't in there to see what went on, but whatever it was, he was able to defend himself,” mom Anita said. “It could've been him that was shot and killed."
